Konverge reads the drawings you upload. Three features build on that: you can ask about the sheet you have open, get takeoff quantities suggested from its schedules and room areas, and see what changed between two revisions. All three are on the web today, and come to the phone apps when they arrive.
None of them changes a drawing. An answer is only an answer, a suggestion goes on an estimate only when someone accepts it, and a description of a change is only a description. Check the drawing before you act on any of them.
Ask the drawing
The assistant can see which sheet you have open and the part of it on your screen, and answers from the drawing itself.
- Open the project’s Drawings and open a sheet.
- Pan and zoom to the part you’re asking about: a room, a detail, a note.
- Click Ask in the bottom-right corner, or press Ctrl+J (⌘J on a Mac). The panel shows Looking at with the sheet, so the assistant knows what you mean by “this”. Choose Ask without it to ask about something else.
- Type your question in plain words, for example “What’s the door width here?” or “Which detail does this callout point to?”.
Under each answer, What the assistant checked lists what it looked at, including the drawing in view. If it can’t read something, because the text is too small at this zoom or the sheet doesn’t show it, it says so instead of guessing. Zoom in on that part and ask again, or open the sheet it refers to.
The first time you use the assistant, it asks you to agree: Turn on the Konverge assistant, then Turn on the assistant. If it drafts something, such as a pin or a markup, the draft is drawn dashed on the sheet and nothing is saved until you confirm it.
We tested it on a real hotel drawing set: it passed 20 of 20 test questions (internal test, October 2026). It still makes mistakes. Treat an answer as a pointer to the right place on the drawing, not a replacement for reading it.
AI takeoff suggestions
Konverge reads two things off your drawings and suggests estimate lines from them:
- Door and window schedules: a count for each door or window type.
- Room areas printed on the plans: an area for each room.
It reads what is printed. It doesn’t measure rooms that have no area written on the plan, and it doesn’t count doors that aren’t in a schedule.
From an estimate: open a draft estimate, then Takeoff → Open the takeoff. In Suggested takeoff, choose Suggest takeoff from drawings, tick the drawings to read and choose Read. Suggestions appear when the reading is done; you can leave the page in the meantime.
From a sheet: open the sheet’s Details tab and, under Suggest takeoff, choose Read this drawing. When it’s done, choose Review suggestions and pick the draft estimate under Accept onto.
Suggestions are grouped (Room areas, From schedules) and each one says where it came from (“From the schedule: …” or “Printed on the drawing as …”) and how sure Konverge is: High confidence, Check this one, or Low confidence: check on the drawing. Show on drawing takes you to the spot.
For each suggestion choose Accept or Dismiss. When you accept, choose what it becomes:
- New line from your catalog: a line at your catalog’s rate.
- New line to price: a line with a rate of 0 until you price it.
- Set the quantity of a line: an existing line in the same unit keeps its rate.
For rooms, Accept all printed areas adds each room as its own line.
Konverge never sets a price. A rate only ever comes from your cost catalog or from you.
Limits:
- Suggestions go onto a draft estimate only. If the estimate has been sent, revise it first.
- Each drawing uses up to US$0.05 of your company’s monthly AI budget, and you can read up to 50 drawings at a time.
- If a newer revision of a drawing exists, ask for suggestions on the new revision.
- Takeoff suggestions are part of Advanced AI, on the Company plan and above (see Pricing).
Measuring by hand works as before: see Takeoff from drawings into an estimate.
What changed between revisions
When a sheet has a new revision, Konverge compares it with the revision before and describes each area that changed.
- Upload the revision: open the sheet, then Revisions → Upload new revision (see Uploading drawings).
- When both revisions are processed, choose Compare revisions at the top of the sheet, or Compare with a revision on the Revisions tab.
- What changed lists each change as Added, Removed, Moved, Retitled or Changed area, with a sentence such as “Door D12 moved 600 mm east”. Show centres the drawing on it.
If you upload the same file again, it says No changes: the revision is the same file as the previous one.
Limits:
- The descriptions are written by AI from both revisions. Check the drawing before acting on one.
- The automatic comparison covers a revision and the one before it. Comparing two older revisions shows them side by side or overlaid, without the list.
- Look at the revision table and the clouds on the newer sheet too: when Konverge finds no changes in the views, it says so and tells you what it didn’t compare.
What Konverge already does on every upload
- Title blocks are read for each sheet’s number and name (Uploading drawings).
- Sheet references (“see detail 5 on A-501”) become links you can tap (Viewing drawings).
- Find any detail by describing it in search (Search).
- Set review flags references to sheets that aren’t in the set, and you can raise an RFI from a finding (RFIs and submittals).
Good to know
- Drawings and questions are sent to Konverge’s AI provider, Google, and aren’t used to train its models. See The assistant and AI features.
- The company owner can turn AI off for the whole company in Settings → AI on the web. Drawings still upload, split and open; they just aren’t read.
- Settings → AI also shows what AI has used this month. Monthly limits are set by Konverge: ask support to change them.
- Drawing a new sheet from a site sketch is a separate, early-access feature: see Drafting from a sketch.
