An inspection is a checklist filled in on site: a daily safety walk, a pre-pour check, a scaffold inspection, a handover walk. Each one starts from a template, so the same questions are asked every time.
Build a template
On the web: open the project’s Site → Inspections → Templates and create one. On the phone: choose Create a template from the inspections list.
- Name it (for example “Daily Safety Walk”), choose a category (Safety, Quality, Environmental, Pre-Construction, Closeout or Custom) and describe what it’s for.
- Add sections, then the items in each. Each item is one of:
- Pass / Fail, or Pass / Fail / N/A
- Yes / No, or Multiple choice (you list the choices)
- Text, Number or Date
- Signature, or an attendance list where each person signs
- Mark the items that must be answered as Required.
- To ask a follow-up only when it applies, use Show only if… on an item: for example, show “Describe the defect” only if “Edge protection in place?” is Fail.
Run an inspection
Open the project’s Site → Inspections, choose Start an inspection and pick the template. Work through the sections, add photos and notes to any item, and tap Complete at the end. Konverge won’t complete it while required items are unanswered, and tells you how many are left.
When it’s complete, Konverge calculates the score (scorable items passed) and the overall result: Pass, Fail or Conditional.
Failures become snags
If items failed, Create snag from failures turns them into snags or a whole punch list, already filled in with what failed. See Snags and punch lists.
Export PDF on a completed inspection makes a report with your letterhead, the answers, photos and signatures. On the phone this works without signal for inspections already on the phone.
Good to know
- Starting an inspection needs signal: without it, the phone queues it, and it’s ready to fill in once you’re back online.
- Signatures need a connection.
- Permits to work use an inspection as their checklist. See Permits to work.
