The phone app keeps working with no signal. Site records save on the phone and send themselves when signal returns. A few things need a connection, and the app tells you which.

The iPhone and Android apps are on their way to the App Store and Google Play; getkonverge.com/app has the latest. Until they arrive, Konverge runs in your phone’s browser, which needs a connection. This article describes how the apps work offline.

Basements, plant rooms and rural sites have no signal, so the phone app is built to carry on without it. You don’t need to do anything special: work as normal, and Konverge sends everything once you’re back online. You don’t have to keep the app open for it to sync.

The sync badge

The badge at the top of the screen tells you where things stand:

Badge What it means
Synced Everything you did has reached Konverge.
Syncing Sending now.
Queued Saved on this phone, waiting to send.
Offline No connection. What you do is saved on this phone.
Review Something you changed offline clashed with a change someone else made. Tap it to choose which to keep.

Tap the badge to see what’s waiting. A record that hasn’t synced yet may show “Not synced yet” and gets its number (for example PTW-0004) when it reaches Konverge.

What saves without signal

  • Daily logs, snags, punch lists and field notes
  • Photos (they upload when you reconnect)
  • Drawing markup and pins on drawings already on the phone
  • Permit drafts and stop work on a live permit
  • Receiving a delivery, and material requests
  • The fire roll call, signing people in and out of the sign-in book, and clocking in and out
  • Raising an early warning or another contract notice
  • Aftercare requests
  • Messages

What needs signal

  • Starting an inspection (it’s queued, and ready to fill in once you’re online), and capturing signatures
  • Approving, rejecting or deciding a workflow step, because a decision moves the work on for other people
  • Raising an RFI (it’s a question for someone else; save a note and raise it when you have signal)
  • Uploading a new drawing revision, creating folders, and restoring a revision
  • Pinning a new photo to a drawing
  • Searching documents (offline, search looks through the drawings already on the phone)
  • Estimates, change orders, payment applications and most settings

The app says when something needs a connection, rather than failing quietly.

Drawings and records on the phone

Records you’ve opened recently are kept on the phone, so lists and details open with no signal. For drawings, open each sheet you’ll need once while you have signal, or download a whole folder for offline use: they’re then Saved on this device and open in full with none. Konverge also saves sheets for you when the phone is on Wi-Fi.

Before you sign out or hand the phone over

Wait until the badge says Synced. If you sign out with changes still queued, the phone keeps them for you for up to 30 days, and sends them when you sign back in on the same phone with the same account. Someone else signing in on that phone never sends your changes as theirs.

If something stays queued

  1. Check you really have signal: open a web page.
  2. Open the app and leave it in front for a minute.
  3. Tap the badge to see what’s waiting and whether anything failed. Failed items can be retried from there.
  4. If something has been queued for more than a day with good signal, email support@getkonverge.com with the project and what’s stuck. Don’t delete the app: that deletes what’s queued.
